Öz Sağlık İşçileri Sendikası
Mr. Devlet Sert, President of our Union, Öz Sağlık-İş Health and Social Services Trade Union and Vice-President of the HAK-İŞ Trade Union Confederation conducted a working visit to Iraq and held important discussions with his counterparts during his programme.
Following the discussions, a new international cooperation agreement signed between our union of ÖZ SAĞLIK-İŞ and the Iraq Health Workers Union (HPS). The bilateral cooperation agreement was signed by our Union President, Mr. Devlet Sert and by Mr. Mr. Alaa Al-Maliki, President of the Iraq Health Workers Union (HPS) on February 14th, 2026 in Baghdad, capital city of Iraq.
Our union was represented at the signing ceremony by our President, Mr. Devlet Sert, together with our Vice-Presidents that are Advocate Mr. Muhammet Esat Eyvaz and Mr. Fehmi Azboy, and Mr. Uğur Müftüoğlu, International Relations Expert, as well as Mr. Alaa Al-Maliki, President and Executive Board Members of the hosting organisation that the Iraq Health Workers Union (HPS)
At the ceremony, Mr. Sert emphasized that our union of ÖZ SAĞLIK-İŞ is the leader in the Turkish health and social services sector together with nearly 220,000 members by adding that the signed agreement would advance relations between the two trade unions. Mr. Sert also noted that mutual sharing of knowledge and experience gained in the trade union field would make significant contributions to healthcare workers in both countries by wishing the signed cooperation to be fruitful.
Mr. Alaa Al-Maliki, President of HPS, expressed his pleasure due to hosting our delegation in Iraq and at the signing of the bilateral cooperation agreement. Mr. Al-Maliki added that Öz Sağlık-İş’s achievement of being the third largest workers’ union in Türkiye is a significant success, and expressed their desire to benefit from our union’s knowledge and experience.
OUR DELEAGATION’S VISIT TO THE GENERAL FEDERATION OF IRAQI WORKERS’ UNIONS HEAD OFFICE
In the framework of the visit programme into Iraq, our delegation also visited the General Federation of Iraqi Workers’ Unions Head Office. During the working visit programme, a meeting was also held with Mr. Sattar Danbous Barrak Al-Bawy, President of the General Federation of Iraqi Workers (GFIW) by focusing on developing relations between the trade union movements of the two countries and increasing and extending areas of joint work.
