The General Federation of Jordanian Trade Union (GFJTU) delegation visited our Union head office and met Our Union President Mr. Devlet Sert on August 11th, 2026.
Mr. Devlet Sert, our Union President and Vice-President of the HAK-İŞ Trade Union Confederation, hosted the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Union (GFJTU) delegation headed by its President Mr. Khaled Al-Fanatseh together with GFJTU Woman Committee members and executives of its sectorial affiliates which are in Türkiye in the scope of a study visit programme.
Mr. Devlet Sert, our Union President and Vice-President of the HAK-İŞ Trade Union Confederation, Advocate Muhammet Esat Eyvaz, our Union Vice-President, Mrs. Tuba Gülpembelioğlu, chairperson of Our Union Woman Committee, Mrs. Fatma Zengin Gümrah, chairperson of the HAK-İŞ Confederation Woman Committee participated the visiting program.
And, the GFJTU delegation included Mr. Khaled Al-Fanatseh, President and Mr. Khaled Abu Marjoub, Vice President of the said labour organisation from Jordan as well as its sectorial affiliates’ executives: Ms. Bushra Alsalman, President of the Agriculture, Water and Food Industry Workers’ Union; Ms. Dalia Alas’as, Executive Board Member of the Banking, Audit and Accounting Workers’ Union; Ms. Rana Abu Louha, Vice-President of the Public Services and Self-Employed Workers’ Union; Ms. Reem Kraishan, the General Assembly Member of the Air Transport and Tourism Workers’ Union; Ms. Nadia Abdallah, the Executive Board Member of the Electricity Workers’ Union; Ms. Fatma Khalil, Executive Board Member of the Special Education Workers’ Union; Ms. Elham Saudi, Executive Board Member of the Banking, Audit and Accounting Workers’ Union, and Ms. Esraa Alfaouri, Executive Board Member of the Textile Workers’ Union.
EXCHANGE OF VIEWS BETWEEN UNION DELEGATIONS
The union delegations held exchange of views on the development of cooperation and sharing mutual experience between our union and the Jordanian federation and its relavant sectorial affiliates as well as two countries, Jordan and Türkiye.
In the scope of bilateral discussions, both sides assessed the issues in order to advance joint activities which are considered continuation of the cooperation and solidarity initiated and experience shared by our Union President Mr. Sert in Amman, capital city of Jordan, in February of 2026.
MR. SERT: BROTHERHOOD BETWEEN TWO COUNTRIES IS FURTHER STRENGTHENED BY COOPERATION BETWEEN UNIONS
By drawing attention to the fact that strong historical and cultural ties between Türkiye and Jordan, Mr. Sert stated that the brotherhood between the two countries is further strengthened by cooperation between trade unions and civil society organizations. He also noted that Türkiye and Jordan were such brother countries which have been sharing common history and cultural values by emphasizing that ongoing cooperation and solidarity among the labour organisations further advanced this brotherhood.
MR. SERT EXPRESSED HIS GRATITUDE TO THE JORDANIAN UNIONS FOR THEIR STAND AGAINST THE ONGOING MASSACRES IN GAZA
By touching on the recent developments in Palestine territory, particularly Jerusalem and Gaza, Mr. Sert emphasized that there was very strong solidarity and a shared concern between the two brother countries on those issues. Mr. Sert thanked the Jordanian labour federation and its sectorial affiliates for their stance and support to the Palestinian cause, especially their firm stand against the zionist Israeli ongoing massacres in Gaza Strip and brutal attacks on the Sumud Flotilla which included Mr. Mahmut Arslan, the HAK-İŞ Confederation President.
“WE ATTACH GREAT IMPORTANCE TO WOMAN EMPLOYMENT”
Roles of woman in the trade union life and the empowerment of woman labour were also discussed in the meeting. By providing up-to-date information about the woman representation in labour organizations, Mr. Sert informed the Jordanian guests about the works and studies carried out by the HAK-İŞ Confederation and the Öz Sağlık-İş Union. He highlighted greater importance of woman representation in various mechanisms in the working and union lives. He also expressed his appreciation for the successful works done and effective studies made by Jordanian woman unionists.
By pointing out that the value given to woman labor and the efforts to strengthen woman employment are critical common topics among trade unions of the two countries, Mr. Sert thanked the Jordanian woman unionists for their contributions to woman labour and employment in their country.
MR. AL-FANATSEH: WE APPRECIATE THE ÖZ SAĞLIK-İŞ UNION AND ITS SUPPORT TO WOMAN UNIONISTS
GFJTU President Mr. Khaled Al-Fanatseh expressed his satisfaction for establishing close relations with our union, Öz Sağlık-İş. He stated that, as Jordanian unionists, they appreciated our union’s all efforts, especially the those were oriented to participation of woman workers in union life and the empowerment of woman unionists.
By expressing great happiness and pride to learn the fact that 45 percent of Öz Sağlık-İş Union’s members are women, Mr. Al-Fanatseh invited our union to participate into the next program which will focus on woman employment in Jordan.
By noting that, as Jordanian unionists, they closely followed our union’s activities, Mr. Al-Fanatseh said they hoped to further develop the current relations, exchange of experiences and mutual cooperation among unions in the coming period.
Mr. Al-Fanatseh concluded his remarks by thanking to Our Union President Mr. Devlet Sert for the great hospitality extended to the GFJTU delegation.
