Mr. Sert, President of Our Union, Attended the 39th Congress of the Greek Labour Confederation

Mr. Devlet Sert, President of Our Union that is the Öz Sağlık-İş Health and Social Services Union and Vice-President of the HAK-İŞ Trade Union Confederation, attended the 39th Ordinary Congress of the Greek Labour Confederation (GSEE).

Mr. Devlet Sert, Our Union President participated the Greek Labour Confederation (GSEE) 39th Ordinary Congress on the behalf of the HAK-İŞ Trade Union Confederation of which Mr. Sert is Vice-President. Mr. Sert was accompanied by Mr. Ahmed Halfaya, the HAK-İŞ Confederation International Relations Expert. 

 

MR.SERT: SOCIAL DIALOGUE SHOULD BE A MECHANISM FOR PRODUCING SOLUTIONS AND POLICIES 

Mr. Sert made remarks on the Turkish trade union movement and gave information about the fundamental principles of our Confederation in the Collective Bargaining and Social Dialogue Panel which was held within the scope of the GSEE 39th Ordinary Congress.

Mr. Sert, emphasized that social dialogue and collective bargaining were indispensable for social justice, industrial peace, and economic stability by drawing attention to the critical role of social dialogue in the working life. He underlined that social dialogue should not only be a platform for consultation but also a mechanism for producing solutions and policies in the industrial relations system.

Mr. Sert gave point to the fact that significant progress has been made in the field of social dialogue in our country by underlining necessity of making existing mechanisms, particularly the Economic and Social Council which was one of basic constitutional instituions in Türkiye, more effective and functional.

 

MR. SERT: COLLECTIVE BARGAINING IS THE FOUNDATION OF SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EMPLOYMENT SECURITY

Mr. Devlet Sert, President of Our Union, the Öz Sağlık-İş and Vice-President of the HAK-İŞ Confederation defined that collective bargaining processes were not limited solely to wage increases. Mr. Sert added that they were aslo crucial tool for establishing and ensuring social justice and fostering employment (job) security.  

Mr. Sert emphasized the importance of protecting workers against inflation, strengthening union organisation, and incorporating new working models into collective bargaining processes.

By drawing attention to the importance of the International Labour Organization (ILO) norms and standards, he stated that regulations aimed at preventing violence and harassment in the workplace have already been reflected and applied in collective labour agreements by our union and other sectroial affiliates of the HAK-İŞ Trade Union Confederation.

“OUR OBJECTIVE IS DECENT WORKING CONDITIONS AND STRONG SOCIAL PEACE” 

Mr. Devlet Sert also stated, the Öz Sağlık-İş Union President, that fundamental objectives of the HAK-İŞ Trade Union Confederation were to ensure decent (dignified) working conditions (to) establish strong social peace in the labour life. He concluded his speech by emphasizing that the trade union struggle would resolutely be sustained at the domestic and global levels in the future.
