President Sert represented Turkish Labour Movement in Mongolia

Mr. Devlet Sert, Vice-President of the HAK-İŞ Trade Union Confederation and President of the Öz Sağlık-İş Health and Social Services Workers’ Union, represented Turkish Labour Movement in Mongolia.

President Sert participated 100th foundation anniversary event of the Mongolian Healthcare Workers’ Union in Ulaanbaatar, capital city of Mongolia.  

Mr. Fadlı Erdem, General Secretary, and Mr. Uğur Müftüoğlu, International Relations Coordinator of our Union accompanied Mr. Devlet Sert during the 100th foundation anniversary event of the Mongolian Healthcare Workers’ Union together a number of representatives and guests from various trade unions and civil society organisations of Central Asian countries. 

Our Union President Devlet Sert, who delivered a speech at the event, greeted the participants on behalf of the HAK-İŞ Trade Union Confederation and the Öz Sağlık-İş Health and Social Services Workers’ Union with feelings of brotherhood, friendship, and solidarity.

MR. SERT: A 100-YEAR UNION HISTORY IS A TANGIBLE INDICATOR AND A POWERFUL TESTAMENT TO HARD WORK, STRUGGLE, SOLIDARITY, AND FAITH IN WORKERS’ RIGHTS

Expressing his pleasure and happiness at the 100th anniversary celebration event of the Mongolian Health Workers’ Union, President Sert noted that a trade union having a 100-year history did not merely mean having a long history; he also emphasised that this long-standing history was a testament to a strong belief for labour, workers’ rights, struggle, and solidarity.

Mr. Sert saluted all the leaders, representatives, and workers who have made tangible contributions into the creation of this great trade union legacy and then congratulated the Mongolian Health Workers’ Union on its 100th foundation anniversary.

MR. SERT: OUR LABOURFORCE IS COMMON, OUR GOALS ARE ONE AND WE FACE SAME PROBLEMS

By pointing out that healthcare and social service workers in different countries all around the world faced similar problems, Mr. Sert underlined that increasing workload, challenging working conditions, workplace violence, the improvement of economic and social rights, and ensuring the safety of employees constituted a common agenda to global labour movement, especially for the healthcare unions.

Mr. Sert said that there were no limits to the struggle of those working in the healthcare and social services sector by noting that while countries and languages ​​might differ, the problems of workers were common. He conveyed his message by expressing that “Our laborforce is common, our goals are one and we face same problems.” Then, Mr. Sert added that international trade union solidarity was more important than ever in solving common problems by attracting attention to the fact that trade unions could play a significant role in strengthening cooperation between countries.

MR. SERT: UNION SOLIDARITY UNITES PEOPLES AND MAKES WORKERS AS BROTHERS AND SISTERS

By referring to the strong historical, cultural and human ties between Türkiye and the Central Asian countries, our Union President Mr. Sert said that these ties had to be strengthened not only between states and governments, but also between workers and trade unions.

By emphasising the importance of establishing stronger communication and cooperation amongst healthcare workers’ unions in Central Asia region, Mr Sert said that diplomacy brought countries closer together; the economy bound them together; but, union solidarity made peoples and workers brothers and sisters.

By drawing attention to the fact that healthcare workers’ unions in the Central Asia region, particularly in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Mongolia and Türkiye need to get know one another better, exchange knowledge and experiences and devise joint solutions to common problems, Mr. Sert defined the 100th year anniversary event of MHWU as an vital opportunity in this sense.

MR. SERT CALLED FOR A STRONG REGIONAL CO-OPERATION AMONG CENTRAL ASIAN HEALTHCARE WORKERS’ UNIONS

By making a proposal of establishment of regular consultation mechanisms among trade unions, organisation of joint training programmes, holding conferences, implementation of projects, and bringing together young and female trade unionists. Mr. Sert called for a strong regional co-operation among Central Asian healthcare workers’ unions.

By emphasising necessity of establishment of a strong, sustainable and institutionalised regional cooperation mechanism amongst healthcare workers’ trade unions in Central Asia, Mr. Sert stated that, as the Öz Sağlık-İş Union, we were ready and determined to play an active role in this process and to fulfil our responsibilities properly.

By stating that such a collaboration would make a significant contribution not only to the advancement of workers’ rights but also to the further strengthening of the bonds of friendship, brotherhood and solidarity among the above-mentioned countries, Mr. Sert once again congratulated the Mongolian Health Workers’ Union on its 100th foundation anniversary.

Mr. Sert also made a wish that the friendship between Turkey and Mongolia, the brotherhood among the Central Asian countries, and regional and international trade union solidarity amongst healthcare workers would steadily continue to grow stronger.

OUR DELEGATION MET REPRESENTATIVES FROM CENTRAL ASIAN COUNTRIES UNIONS AND NGOS AT THE GALA DINNER

Our union delegation headed by President Sert met representatives and other guests of unions and other civil society organisations of the Central Asian countries at the gala dinner event which was organised to mark the 100th anniversary of the Mongolian Health Workers’ Union.
