EDUCATION AND TRAINING ACTIVITIES OF OUR UNION
Our vision remarks an innovative and dynamic trade union in the following context in order to properly act in line with our mission:
With our management team and expert staff who have adopted the ethical principles of our union in order to be a pioneer in the union field, who aim to express innovation, sharing, free thinking and thought, who have a culture of decent life, and who are aware of their responsibilities towards society, country and humanity;
– To produce (by producing) tailor-made training and complementary union research programs for health and social service workers,
– To cooperate and work (by cooperating and working) in solidarity with relevant institutions and organizations at national and international platforms areas with an administrative, financial and transparent management approach.
– To be sensitive to human, social, environmental, national and global problems,
– To take a leading role and accept a pro-active approach for improvement of rights and interests of the health and social service workers serving the whole society.
In brief, we definitely aim to be an innovative and dynamic trade union for the above-mentioned targets, priorities, and policies.
ÖZ SAĞLIK-İŞ stands ready to provide constant support to tailor-made policies and specific strategies which maintain reskilling and upskilling opportunities to workers in line with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) standards and global trade union codes in order to ensure sustainable economic growth and development for the whole society and decent work conditions for all workers, especially for the health and social services employees.
Article 4 of Our Union’s Statute suggests also that
6) It prepares its members for the information age (knowledge era) by developing vocational and technical education, training and qualified workforce, and meets their economic, social and cultural needs,
7) To make efforts to present the best way for protection of rights and interest of workers for
free unionism, strong organisation, better collective labour agreements and effective strike in order to generate an exclusive and virtuous worker congregation that are aware of their status, values, moral responsibility, role and mission regardless of language, race, gender, colour, family, sect and political views,
8) To develop and improve relations with the community (societal environment), to have union activities exceed the syndicate sphere and involve all segments of the society to protect the natural environment and to develop facilities and opportunities with all relevant civil society organisations for common goals,
9) It accepts as a principle the restructuring of the union movement as well as the country in every field and institutional level with a just, liberal and pluralistic democratization and (it) struggles in this direction in order to ensure economic, social, political and cultural development of the country, which should mirror historical knowledge and identity of our community.

Article 5 of Our Union’s Statute suggests also that
7) To organise courses and conferences in order to improve occupational knowledge, skills and experiences, (to) increase savings and investments,
8) To establish, have established, operate or run guesthouses, labour houses, hotels, social facilities, schools, education and health facilities, libraries or other facilities required (for following aims) for the purpose of catering needs of its members (workers), staff (crews) and their families and (of) improvement of their economic, social and cultural living conditions.
9) To prepare radio and television programs and to publish press releases and issue publications,
12) To assist in the establishment of provident funds, and education and training-based funds by allocating financial possibilities in cases of marriage, birth, illness, old age, death, disability, unemployment and similar (extraordinary) situations by providing amount of any loans should not exceed more than 5% of the cash reserves,
14) To provide in-kind and cash aid to public institutions and organizations for the purpose of establishing housing, education and health facilities in natural disaster areas at home and abroad, directly or through authorized authorities by providing aids amounting less than 10% of cash assets in line with an Executive Board resolution of the Union.
15) To perform other duties and responsibilities arising from legislation and union traditions and to use other rights and mandates

The following 10 standing committees are active under the roof of the ÖZ SAĞLIK-İŞ Trade Union in order to conduct specific studies and works for the benefit of not only for our members but also for all workers and human beings:
1- The Disaster Affairs Committee,
2- The Education and Training Planning Committee,
3- The Disabled Committee,
4- The Palestine and Jerusalem Support Union Solidarity Committee,
5- The Youth Committee,
6- The Occupational Health and Safety Committee,
7- The Women Committee,
8- The Culture-Art Committee,
9- The Social Media Committee and
10-The Turkish World Committee.
ÖZ SAĞLIK-İŞ Syndicate is a labour organization that has adopted a project-based work culture since its establishment in 2014.
ÖZ SAĞLIK-İŞ is getting experienced and high capacity in the field of preparation, implementation and conclusion various types of grant projects.
ÖZ SAĞLIK-İŞ constantly organizes raising-awareness, reskilling and upskilling programs for its executives, experts and members by being in close cooperation and coordination with national and international institutions such as the European Union, the International Labour Organization (ILO), the Turkish National Agency, the Turkish Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA), the Turkish Ministry of Labour and Social Security, and the Turkish Ministry of Family and Social Services in the field of socially beneficial grant projects.
In this regard, ÖZ SAĞLIK-İŞ has successfully finalised a number of grant contracts for the benefit of women, youth and the disabled in the fields of vocational educational trainings, social dialogue, work-life balance, prevention any kinds of discrimination and mobbing, adaptation into changing conditions of the working life, occupational health and safety in the working life and reskilling and upskilling programmes.
The above-mentioned projects would be considered tangible reflections of mission, vision and dynamic structure of ÖZ SAĞLIK-İŞ Trade Union.
It is also noted that an academic research institution whose title is ÖZ-SAM standing for the ÖZ SAĞLIK-İŞ Strategic Researches Centre, https://ozsaglikis.org/oz-sam/ ), the Financial Affairs Directorate, the Legal Affairs and Consultancy Department, the Collective Bargaining Department, the Organising Department, the Publishing & Media, the International Relations Department and the Project Implementation and Coordination Unit are and sufficient number of experts who are specialised at the mentioned fields are active under the ÖZ SAĞLIK-İŞ Trade Union umbrella.
Furthermore, our union attaches importance to developing bilateral relations based on the sharing of knowledge and experience by signing cooperation protocols with the syndicates which are active and operating in the health and/or social services sector in other countries.
Thanks to those cooperation agreements, the parties agree to conduct the following actives with an aim to develop bilateral relations via exchange information and experiences by taking into consideration of social and the economic life and recent development of their own countries:
– Exchange delegations to learn the experiences of working life and trade union activities.
– Help people and organizations of countries to build mutually beneficial relations.
– Take care of the informational work, exchange of literatures, newspapers, magazines and the materials about labour and trade union activities.
– Provide consulting services as well as training and teaching of experts of Trade Unions between two sides,
– Exchange the work programs for training and providing executives, experts, shop stewards and other participants for such programmes.
– Regularly communicate about the activity of mutual interest in the field of working conditions, wages, social and economic developments in order to inform each other, periodically
– Inform each other about recent developments in social policies like; social insurance in their countries.
On this occasion, we would like to remark that 17 pcs bilateral cooperation agreements were signed with 17 unions from different 14 countries, participating into the 3rd Ordinary General Assembly of the ÖZ SAĞLIK-İŞ Trade Union in Ankara on 19.11.2021.
As of April 2025, cumulatively, our Syndicate of ÖZ SAĞLIK-İŞ has signed bilateral cooperation agreements with 22 syndicates from 17 different countries which are Albania, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Algeria, Morocco, Palestine, Kazakhstan, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Kuwait, Lebanon, North Macedonia, Egypt, Mauritania, Senegal, Somalia and Ukraine.
In this framework, recent cooperation agreement between ÖZ SAĞLIK-İŞ Trade Union of Türkiye and The General Trade Union of Health Services’ Workers (GTUHSW) of Egypt signed by Mr. Devlet Sert and Mr. Ali Abdelbaset Ali Mohamed in Ankara on 14 November 2024.
In the coming period, we will keep on making great efforts to build new collaboration bridges with sister unions operating in the health and social services sector in other countries with the aim of achieving global labour solidarity all over the world.
