OUR FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS AND SUPPORTS INTO NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL CAMPAIGNS
At national level, the ÖZ SAĞLIK‐İŞ Trade Union provides its members with life and personal accident insurance, in case of the death of a member, it provides death aid to the family, and aids to members in the case they exposed to natural disasters and accident, such as accident, fire, flood, earthquake etc.
The ÖZ SAĞLIK‐İŞ Trade Union highlights social unionism with various gifts on the special days of its members (marriage, Mother’s Day, International Women Day, etc.) as well as on feasts (bairams).
Moreover, the ÖZ SAĞLIK‐İŞ has also supported its members (workers) to ease the socio-economic difficulties experienced during the Covid-19 pandemic period and post-era of the 6 February (2023) earthquakes in the Kahramanmaraş, a province in the Southeastern region of Türkiye.
In the past, different countries such as Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Lebanon, Somalia, Syria, Palestine (Gaza and the West Bank), Sudan etc. where extraordinary situations such as earthquakes, wars, economic crisis, migration, floods and strikes occurred, in-kind (clothing, food, medicine, etc.) and financial aids were provided to the sister unions operating in the health and/or social services sector and their members and people.
For example; in order to make tangible contributes into the recovery efforts of Albania for healing its wounds, which was shaken by the 6.4 magnitude earthquake on November 26, 2019, both our HAK-İŞ Confederation and our Syndicate of ÖZ SAĞLIK-İŞ sent financial aids and in-kind contributions to the labour organisations and NGOs in the said country.
Upon the request of the Kiev City Health Workers Union operating in Ukraine, which is experiencing socio-economic difficulties due to the Ukrainian War started by the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022, our Union has provided financial assistance for the benefit of Ukrainian civilians and workers.
Likewise, a financial aid was provided in August of the 2022 year to the General Confederation of Labour Unions of Lebanon (CGTL), which has still been going through difficult times by facing economic crisis and political chaos on 05 August 2022.
As ÖZ-SAĞLIK-İŞ Syndicate, we have also built a 350-bed school and a rehabilitation centre, whose full title is the Öz Sağlık-İş School and Rehabilitation Centre costing around Euro 400.000, in Gaza Strip, Palestine which has been subject to systematic genocide by the terrorist state of Israel.
The project, whose construction protocol was signed in Ankara on June 01, 2022 was put into service on August 19, 2023. This project covered primary and middle school sections which also included information technologies (IT), rehabilitation, therapy classrooms as well as social units such as library, swimming pool, restaurant, masjid on a-1.050-square-meter-area.
Disabled and orphan children in Gaza have received education and treatment in this school and rehabilitation centre. However, due to the war, education and rehabilitation services at this school stopped. Around 200 Palestinian families have sheltered this centre under the state terrorist attacks of Israel. Unfortunately, this centre is damaged into ruins by brutal attacks and destructive strikes of terrorist state of Israel on residential areas of Gaza.
As ÖZ-SAĞLIK-İŞ Trade Union, we are determined to continue providing similar assistance, solidarity and cooperation activities in the different territories in the future to the extent of our Syndicate’s possibilities
