We protested against murderous Israel at 114th Session of the International Labour Conference

During 114th session held as part of the 114th International Labour Conference, organised by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in Geneva, Switzerland, a large-scale protest erupted in the meeting hall when a representative from the Israeli delegation took the floor on 3 July 2026 Wednesday.

A number of country representatives and participants supported the protest by reacting against the murderous Israel for its attacks on the Palestinian people.  The conference also discussed the agenda item concerning Palestine’s status in the International Labour Organisation (ILO). Israel’s procedural objection, supported by the US and Argentina, was rejected by the general assembly. As a result of the vote, the resolution regarding Palestine’s membership status in the ILO was adopted by an overwhelming majority.

The protest action was also supported by Turkish delegation covering Prof. Dr. Vedat Işıkhan that is the Turkish Minister of Labour and Social Security, Mr. Mahmut Arslan that is the HAK-İŞ Confederation, Mr. Devlet Sert that is President of the Öz Sağlık-İş Health and Social Services Union and Vice-President of the HAK-İŞ Trade Union Confederation together with Mr. Muhammet Esat Eyvaz, Vice-President for Financial Issues, Mr. Fadlı Erdem, General Secretary, Mr. İlyas Şeker, Chief Legal Advisor, Mr. Uğur Müftüoğlu, International Relations Coordinator, Mr. Mehmet Selim Ahi, Advocate of our Union and many other representatives from other countries.

After the objection was overwhelmingly rejected, the Israeli representative taking the floor faced intense protests from the audience. Representatives and delegates from a number of countries supporting Palestine expressed their disapproval by banging on tables, while Palestinian flags were unfurled and solidarity messages with the Palestinian people were given. Due to the intense reactions, the Israeli representative was forced to leave the podium by cutting his speech short.

The protest taking place within the ILO – Annual International Labour Conference session demonstrated that international solidarity with the Palestinian people and reactions to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, which meant strong protest against Zionist Israel and even solidarity expression with the Palestinian people and their just cause at one of the most important global platforms.
