Mr. Arslan, President of Our Confederation, joined the Conscience Journey with the Sumud Flotilla to Gaza

Mr. Mahmut ARSLAN, President of Our Confederation of HAK-İŞ, joined the Conscience Journey with the Sumud Flotilla to Gaza on May 14th, 2026 in Marmaris where is a district of popular port town and tourist resort located in Muğla province located in southwestern Anatolia of Türkiye. 

 

Mr. Mahmut ARSLAN, President of the HAK-İŞ Trade Union Confederation which is the superstructure (umbrella organisation) of the Öz Sağlık-İş Health and Social Services Workers’ Union, joined the global SUMUD flotilla, which was formed in order to fortify international solidarity against the attacks, blockade policies, and obstruction of humanitarian aid carried out by Zionist Israel in Gaza.

Setting sail on 14 May 2026 from Marmaris district with the global SUMUD Fleet to support deserving cause (just struggle) of the Palestinian people, Mr. Arslan stated that the Palestinian people were never alone by emphasizing that “We are setting out to be the voice of our brothers and sisters that have been struggling to survive under oppression in Gaza, in order to revive the conscience of humanity, and (in order to) proclaim the call for justice to the world.”

Mr. Arslan also called for support from the Turkish nation, the large HAK-İŞ community, and the international labour movement by expressing that “I expect you to stand by us with your valuable support for this honorable struggle in order to assist voices of the orphaned children and tearful mothers of Gaza Strip to be heard around the world, and (to) make tangible contributions into this cause.”

As the Öz Sağlık-İş Health and Social Services Workers’ Union, we wish our Confederation President Mr. Mahmut Arslan and all the volunteers participating in the global SUMUD Fleet success on this journey of conscience and solidarity.
